The renowned architect, Henri Louis Sullivan,  stated that "form follows function."

This is especially true when applied to residential design and remodeling. Creating floor plans that function well, allow for natural flow within rooms, and take into account and maximize on the siting of the house (i.e. solar gain, prevailing breezes, and view from windows) definitely affect how the final form will take shape. Functionality is always uppermost in my mind when I start a project.

Once a design concept is solidified, aesthetics take over. How can this design reflect the personality of my clients? Will it be modern or traditional in style? What can we do to make it more visually pleasing and unique? Keeping function and form balanced throughout the design process will ensure an optimal finished product.
